“Who is my mother and my brothers?” He asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother andy brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother. (Mark 3:33-34)
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to choose between two people you love? Have you ever had to choose between pleasing your mom or pleasing God? It is a hard place to be. But God’s Word is clear. Who is our mother and our brothers? Those that do the will of God.
We should not ignore our families, but if there is a choice to be made- Christ trumps them all- and those who do His will.
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:37-39)
