Lord, give me a love for people . . .

My prayer today:

Lord, give me a love for people that is not naturally there. Give me the ability to communicate this love by speaking to others with gentleness and patience and showing genuine concern for their well being and interest.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be that of Christ Jesus who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” Phil 2:3-7

A Wife’s Prayer: Let me speak words of life

A wife’s prayer: My words

Lord, I pray that would help me to speak love to my husband. Show me how to encourage and uplift him when he needs. Give me wisdom to know when to “speak and when to stay silent” (Eccl. 3:7) and “let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, my strength, and my redeemer.” (Proverbs 19:14)

Lord, I confess that where I have been critical or mean with my words toward my husband. I know that is not glorifying to you. Forgive me, Lord. Give me a new heart toward my husband. Lord, give him a new heart toward me. I pray that he too will forgive me where I have been unloving with my words. I pray Lord that we both are careful of what we say to each other and that our words are never used to hurt each other, but to uplift and encourage each other. Teach me Lord to be an encouraging and loving wife. Reveal to me how and when to speak words of life to him. I pray you will give him wisdom to say what I need to hear as well, Lord. Grow us closer together and also closer to You. We know that when we rely on you, you will make our paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Lord, I lay my marriage at your feet. Work in me and show me how to be a good wife that honors You. Help us to communicate in love and in ways that honor you. Lord, work in the heart of my husband, that he has a heart for pleasing You as well.
Thank you, Lord for your goodness, and your faithfulness. May our marriage be used for your eternal glory.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:10-12

Praying for your Husband

PRAYER MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Prayer changed my marriage. I have found, nagging, and controlling and trying to get my way never work in marriage, but prayer always does.  In the book “Power of a Praying Wife” by Stormie Omartian, Stormie says, “Worrying about your marriage changes nothing, praying about it can change everything.” I can tell you from experience in my own life- Pray for your husband and your marriage- Prayer works!

Below is a prayer taken from Stormie’s book. It is a prayer for your husband going through trials. I pray that as you pray for your husband, God moves in his heart and yours as well. God bless!

“Lord, you alone know the depth of the burden my husband carries. I may understand the specifics, but you have measured the weight of it on his shoulders. I’ve not come to minimize what you are doing in his life, for I know you work great things in the midst of trials. Nor am I trying to protect him from what he must face. I only want to support him so that he will get through this battle a winner.

God you are our refuge and strength, our very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You have invited us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16) I come before your throne and ask for grace for my husband. Strengthen his heart for this battle and give him patience to wait on You (Psalm 27:1-4) Build him up so that no matter what happens he will be able to stand strong through it. Help him to always be “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer” (Romans 12:12) Give him endurance to run the race and not give up, for you have said that “ a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again” (Proverbs 24:16). Help him to remember that “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand” (Psalm 37:23-24)

I pray he will look to you to be his “refuge until these calamities have passed by” (Psalm 57:1). May he learn to wait on you because “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount on wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31) I pray that he will find his strength in You and as he cries out to You, You will hear and a save him out of all his troubles (Psalm 34:6).”

A Praying Parent

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7

(Taken in part from “Power of a Praying Parent” by Stormie Omartian)

Lord, I submit myself to you and I realize that parenting a child in the way you would have to is beyond my human abilities. Lord, I pray over my and and my husband’s heart and mind. We want to partner with You and partake of your gifts of wisdom, discernment, revelation, and guidance. We also need Your strength and Your patience along with a generous portion of Your love flowing through us- Give us a heaping portion of Your love so we can fully love our children. Teach us how to love the way You love. Where we need to be healed, delivered, changed, matured, or made whole, I invite You to do that in us. Help us to walk in righteousness and integrity before you. Teach us your ways, enable us to obey your commandments and do only what is pleasing in your sight. May the beauty of your spirit be so evident in us that we will be a godly role model to our children. Give us the skills that we must have and make us the parents you want us to be. And teach us how to pray and truly intercede for our children. Lord, you said in your word, “Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matt. 21:22) Teach us how to pray for our children. Help us to be the parents that you have created us to be and when we fail I pray our children will easily forgive us. Never let them hold a grudge in their heart, but forgive quickly and easily so the enemy will not have a foot hold in their lives.

I pray our children only rely on you for their every need. We are limited, but you are unlimited in your love and grace and mercy for these children. May they always follow You for the rest of their lives.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
