A Praying Parent

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7

(Taken in part from “Power of a Praying Parent” by Stormie Omartian)

Lord, I submit myself to you and I realize that parenting a child in the way you would have to is beyond my human abilities. Lord, I pray over my and and my husband’s heart and mind. We want to partner with You and partake of your gifts of wisdom, discernment, revelation, and guidance. We also need Your strength and Your patience along with a generous portion of Your love flowing through us- Give us a heaping portion of Your love so we can fully love our children. Teach us how to love the way You love. Where we need to be healed, delivered, changed, matured, or made whole, I invite You to do that in us. Help us to walk in righteousness and integrity before you. Teach us your ways, enable us to obey your commandments and do only what is pleasing in your sight. May the beauty of your spirit be so evident in us that we will be a godly role model to our children. Give us the skills that we must have and make us the parents you want us to be. And teach us how to pray and truly intercede for our children. Lord, you said in your word, “Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matt. 21:22) Teach us how to pray for our children. Help us to be the parents that you have created us to be and when we fail I pray our children will easily forgive us. Never let them hold a grudge in their heart, but forgive quickly and easily so the enemy will not have a foot hold in their lives.

I pray our children only rely on you for their every need. We are limited, but you are unlimited in your love and grace and mercy for these children. May they always follow You for the rest of their lives.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
